Unlikely Alliances is the twenty-fifth episode of Ōban Star-Racers and the twelfth episode of the Ōban Cycle.
Synopsis[]
Canaletto is free and determined to regain his lost power. The remaining racers join forces in order to stop the powerful being from achieving his goal. However, Canaletto will not go down so easily and unleashes his dark minions to destroy them. The fate of the galaxy hangs in the balance and one racer makes the ultimate sacrifice in order to ensure victory.

Ōban has been turned into a desolate wasteland. The Earth Team takes refuge in the remains of an old temple. Jordan tries to comfort a depressed Molly, who blames herself for all of this and fears that Aikka is gone. Don Wei tries to forge a connection with the President, finding him in a state of shock as Crog forces from Venus to Mars now surround Earth. The Earth Coalition is in peril.
Meanwhile, a weakened Aikka is brought by G'dar to the Earth Team's hideout. Aikka tells them about his encounter with the dying Satis and the vital information he learned from him; Molly is the only person who can stop Canaletto. She must become the Avatar and the only place to do this is at the Temple of the Heart. Molly agrees to do this, much to Don Wei's dismay. Before she leaves, he calls her Eva in front of the others. She calls him Dad, and he says he loves her.
Molly sets out for the Temple of the Heart with Jordan and Aikka. O joins them on the way there, even though Jordan is suspicious of him. When they arrive, two giants from the wall itself battle them, but Molly and the boys are no match for them. Only O stands a chance to hold them off, but he falls graciously in battle. The trio make their way inside the temple, where Canaletto is waiting for them.
